My Ancestors Called Me Home

An acrostic poem by Naa Kwarley Amissah
1

Making my way to Mother Afrika
Yearning for connection, for clarity, for home…

Anxiously awaiting to learn more of the
Nokore - TRUTH in the language of the Ghanaian people; Ghana, the land that I call Home.
Consciously aware that my Soul, my Spirit, my Soma are displaced
Ever grateful to be able to hear the Ancestors’ call
Spiritually connected to the land of my origins, yet
Torn because I don’t yet know where Home is.
Ostensibly it is the land of the New World, of Amerikkka, but am I
Really at Home here?
Surely there are many here who believe I do not belong… The

Continent of Afrika calls to me -
Akwaaba! Welcome! Yes, the Motherland is welcoming me Home.
Listening deeply for the whispers of wisdom from the Ancestors who are speaking to my heart
Leaning in and letting go, I let the Muse choose - revealing to me the
Evidence
Decidedly hidden from plain sight

Meticulously discerning the
Evolution of ME.

Home. Where is that truly?
Oblivious to the dogma - everything that seems true truly is not.
My instincts tell me to allow the Muse’s guidance, for my Muse is the Ancestors personified. I am
Embracing the understanding that I have returned home from Home.
